EIGHT pupils have been suspended from Stranraer Academy for smoking cannabis at school.

Senior staff acted after a tip-off from a youngster.

The pupils, believed to be aged 14 to 17, were seen smoking behind the school’s C block during a lunch break.

They were questioned by police and two could be charged with possession of a class C drug.

Six were suspended on Friday and two on Monday. They will be allowed back into the school after five days.
