The European Commission is set to press ahead with “draconian cuts” to cod catch allowances, according to the Scottish Fisherman’s Federation.
The group, which met with EC fisheries officials in Brussels, said the move would have a serious impact on the Scottish fleet.
Initial proposals include a further cut in the allowable catch for cod and a reduction in vessels’ days at sea.
The Scottish Executive said it would resist the proposed changes.
