[This is in no way connected with the 20,000 asylum seekers in Glasgow-ed]
DARK lanes in Glasgow city centre could be closed at weekends in a bid to halt a wave of muggings.
As part of a pilot project, police chiefs and council officials are to ask business owners to erect barriers. The lanes were built to allow offices, pubs and restaurants to be serviced at the back.
But pub-goers have been dragged into the lanes and robbed while prostitutes also ply their trade there.
Councillor and former lord provost Alex Mosson said: “By experimenting with lane closures at weekends, we hope to take away this opportunity from criminals.”
