Front National’s Bruno Gollnisch Defends Free Speech at EU Parliament

Bruno Gollnisch is a Member of the European Parliament. He is a faculty member at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. and leader in the Front National, the patriot political party of France. Below, in italics, is Mr. Gollnisch’s speech to the European Parliament:
Madame President, we have just recently learned of the unbelievable sentencing to six years of prison for two German attorneys, Mr. Horst Mahler and Ms. Sylvia Stolz.

These terrible sentencing is motivated by the fact that the parties express dissident points of view from the official version as to the reality and the extent of the concentration camp drama during the Second World War.

Whatever one may thing of their opinions, it is extremely serious that, in the European Union, today, citizens, attorneys even, are condemned to such punishments for having discussed an historical fact.

It seems that in the so-called democratic Germany of today, there are always judges for suppressing freedom of expression, with the same zeal as formerly in national socialist Germany and communist Germany.

It’s also the case, unfortunately, in other States of the Union, such as France. This is insupportable, and this is very grave.

Bruno Gollnisch (NI ). – Madame la Présidente, nous avons appris tout récemment l’incroyable condamnation à six années de prison de deux avocats allemands, M. Horst Mahler et Mme Sylvia Stolz.

Cette terrible condamnation est motivée par le fait que les intéressés expriment des points de vue dissidents de la version officielle quant à la réalité et l’étendue du drame concentrationnaire lors de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale.

Quoi que l’on pense de leurs opinions, il est extrêmement grave que, dans l’Union européenne, aujourd’hui, des citoyens, avocats de surcroît, soient condamnés à de telles peines pour avoir discuté un fait historique.

Il semble que dans l’Allemagne soi-disant démocratique d’aujourd’hui, il y ait toujours des juges pour museler la liberté d’expression, avec le même zèle que naguère dans l’Allemagne national-socialiste ou dans l’Allemagne communiste.

C’est aussi le cas, hélas, dans d’autres États de l’Union, dont la France. C’est insupportable, et c’est très grave.
