AN Iraqi asylum seeker who indecently attacked three 14-year-old girls in a swimming pool could be thrown out of the United Kingdom.
Howri Qarib, who lives in Springburn, Glasgow, was found guilty of indecently assaulting the girls at the Time Capsule complex in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
Airdrie Sheriff Court heard the youngsters were “terrified and distressed” when Qarib, 30, of Petershill Drive, touched them under the water.
Sheriff Morag Galbraith was told Qarib’s visa, which allows him to be resident in the United Kingdom, expires in May and is due for review.
He could now be thrown out of the country.
His lawyer Eric Wallace said: “These offences, he realises, will be taken into consideration when it comes to deciding to extend his visa or send him back to Iraq.
“He comes from the Kurdish part of Iraq and does not speak English.
“He entered the country in March 2002 and originally stayed in Birmingham before coming to Glasgow in October 2004.”
