[If they are too scared to walk the streets I suggest they leave this country and claim asylum elsewhere (like Libya or Egypt). They came here illegally and claimed asylum on the basis that they were afraid back home incase of attack but they remain here-ed]
A group of Algerian asylum seekers are said to be “too scared to walk the streets” after a government advisor accused them of being involved in a plot to commit mass murder.
The men were arrested in Scotland three years ago. All of the charges against them were later dropped because of a lack of evidence. But a Liberal Democrat peer has now claimed they escaped prosecution because the police did not have enough time to put together their case.
In December 2002 Scotland witnessed its first anti-terror operation since September 11. The police arrested 14 Algerians in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London. There was talk of plans for a terrorist attack – but the case never came anywhere near a jury.
The men were charged under the terrorism act, remanded in custody for three months and then freed on bail. The charges were eventually dropped because of a lack of evidence. Once they were free to speak, the Algerians denied any involvement in terrorism.
