Hindu leaders want a snack van moved from outside their temple – because they’re offended by the smell of beef burgers.
The religious chiefs are demanding Elsie McLean is shifted from her patch in Glasgow.
They’re upset because Hindus don’t eat cows,regarding the animals as sacred.
Last night Elsie,39 – who fears losing her trading licence – said: “I just want to make a living.”
Snack van boss Elsie McLean faces being shut down after Hindu temple leaders complained about the smell of her beef burgers.
Religious chiefs – who believe cows are sacred and don’t eat them – say they’re offended by the whiff of meat being cooked just yards away.
Now Elsie fears she’ll be forced off her patch in Kelvingrove,Glasgow.
Last night the gran said:” I don’t want to antagonise anyone. I’m doing nothing wrong as far as I’m concerned.”
Elsie,39,of Hyndland,Glasgow,set up the stall two years ago.
A nearby building was used as an old folks’s centre but is being converted into the Hindu Mandir temple.
Religious leaders have complained to the council because of the smell coming from her van.
Elsie has been told to move to another patch or face being closed down.
She said:” I can’t believe all this hassle. It’s a nightmare.”
