Police officers enslaved; officials ordered on how to describe non-White criminals.

Scotland Yard was accused today of “wasting time and effort” by changing how it officially describes black and Asian people.

Metropolitan Police officers have been instructed not to use three terms – “ethnic minority”, “black and ethnic minority” and “visible ethnic minority” – so as not to cause “offence and distress”.

Instead Met staff have been told the phrase “black and minority ethnic communities/people” is the appropriate terminology to use when describing staff, people and communities.

The change has been ordered by the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) following a report by its Equal Opportunities and Diversity Board (EODB).

Scotland Yard insists that the change has no cost implications, but the National Black Police Association today described the switch as a “waste of time and money”.

Association president Ray Powell said: “What is important to people is to see actual tangible changes that will have a direct impact on the way they are treated as individuals and as a body of people.
